ChatGPT & Claude App

Facile.it launched the first ChatGPT app in the Italian insurance & utility comparison market, starting with gas and electricity. Built with Alpic on the Skybridge framework, the app lets users get an energy quote and understand offers directly inside their conversation with ChatGPT.

Facile.it is Italy's leading price comparison platform, helping millions of households save money on insurance, utilities, telecoms, and financial products. For nearly two decades, that comparison happened on facile.it through search and call centers. Now it also happens inside ChatGPT.

The challenge

When it comes to utilities and home finances, consumers are starting to ask AI assistants the same questions they used to type into Google such as "Can I reduce my electricity bill by switching providers?" and "What kind of mortgage rate can I expect to get with my profile?" The shift is still early, but it's moving fast, and whoever shows up first in these conversations has a real advantage.

For a comparison platform like facile.it, that shift offered great opportunity. The company prides itself on being the trusted, easy place to compare offers as they change and choose between them. If AI assistants become a primary entry point for those decisions, showing up early with up-to-date provider data and a brand consumers recognize is a clear advantage.

The challenge was twofold. First, any quote it gave back had to be live, computed on the spot, not a stale number pulled from search inventory. Second, it meant carrying the quality and trust facile.it has built over years into a new interface with no homepage, no familiar layout, and no second chance to make a first impression.

The solution

Alpic worked with Facile.it to design, create and publish a ChatGPT app built on the Skybridge framework and hosted on the Alpic platform, starting with one product line: gas and electricity comparison.

The app lets homeowners and renters get a real energy quote without leaving their conversation with ChatGPT. A user asks a question about their electricity bill or energy costs, and the app surfaces an interactive, facile.it-branded experience right in the chat.

Rather than trying to bring all of Facile.it's catalog into ChatGPT at once, the team focused on getting one high value use case to ChatGPT users to start: utilities. However, insurance and financial products such as personal loans and first-time homeowner mortgages will be added subsequently, building on the same foundation and helping make the full facile.it experience available in this new channel.

We didn't want to spend months figuring out how to build for ChatGPT. Alpic understood our business, comparison logic, provider data and brand trust, and they offered the expertise we needed to ship a fully-fledged app in weeks.

What Alpic provided

A new user experience combining the best of facile.it’s offering and a large-language model

The app is built around the MCP apps standard, using the model as a sparring partner rather than a static input form.

The app starts by asking for location and consumption level – the two factors that drive an accurate quote – rather than a long list of inputs. Someone who isn't sure about their consumption level can simply share information from their electricity bill in ChatGPT, and the model can interpret it for them. Instead of just collecting inputs, the AI understands the user's situation and can guide the conversation.

Once it has what it needs, the app compares offers across providers and returns a clear, ranked result in the conversation. From there, if an offer is confusing or two options look too close to call, the user can ask. ChatGPT can explain the difference between two rates, clarify what a clause means, or help weigh the tradeoffs, the kind of back and forth a comparison table alone cannot offer.

Accelerated app development and publishing

The facile.it team was able to move quickly from prototype to production thanks to Alpic expertise and tooling. The team used Alpic's Playground to prototype and test the conversational flow end-to-end with internal stakeholders and early users. When they were ready to submit, Alpic’s app audit tool and app submission helper checked the app against OpenAI's requirements upfront and cut submission time significantly. The app was approved within days, with no followups or rejections.

Visibility into usage with Alpic analytics & insights

Now that the app is live, the Alpic platform gives facile.it two layers of visibility. The first allows the teams to understand how the app is performing operationally with metrics such as sessions, tool call volumes, latency and errors.

The second layer offers more fine-grained insights into how the app is being used. Alpic's User Insights recovers the intent behind each call and groups requests into categories, surfacing what people consistently ask the app to do, and where the current tool surface may come up short. Those trends and the gaps they reveal can feed directly into how the next comparison flows and product lines are scoped.

A foundation built to extend

Facile.it chose a phased rollout for its products on the app. Energy is the first product to go live, but will be followed by their many other services including insurance and personal financial products such as loans and mortgages. The same app foundation and user flows are easily extendible to new product sets without starting over.

Facile.it's energy app is a concrete bet on where consumers will compare the home and personal finance services that they need every day. The comparison is simple by design: a few inputs, and a real comparison back.

What matters more is the position it puts Facile.it in. While competitors are still deciding whether to take AI assistants seriously as a channel, Facile.it is already live, already learning how consumers behave in this interface, and can quickly iterate and add to their app if they see demand or needs shifting.

This isn't a side experiment for us. It's where we think a meaningful part of home, utility and personal finance comparison is heading, and we want to be the one consumers find when they get there.
